Strange, your bird is a menace! It is constantly staring, and I swear it is conspiring with that damned creature. It often returns from its treks into Hell itself with tufts of fur in its beak. The two creatures are either the same, or they are plotting something.

Get rid of it.

If any are still going out on deck, I would advise to mind your distance from the bird if you haven't already.

And Jopson is there within the hour. He has the maps and a personal journal, which had appeared overnight, as if it had always been there. It was odd, but he had simply assumed he had missed it while cleaning.

He sets the charts down, disappearing for only a moment to return with tea for himself and his Captain.

Crozier hides a smile when Jopson returns with tea. He's already spread out the maps on the table and taken out his own observations -- they're in a summer sky right now

"Well?" he asks him expectantly.

Jopson hands him the journal he had been keeping with meticulous notes about his cursory observations, followed by a commentary on the observations. He has compared the charts and had questions written along the sides as he read back over them. He was taking his new studies very seriously.

He sits down on the other side of table to nervously drink his tea, hoping that his observations were well-received.

Crozier looks through the notes and checks some of Jopson's findings against the charts. He's confident in his own knowledge, but the scientist in him is determined to be precise and methodical.

"Very good," he declares, picking up his cup as he turns the page. "Thorough, as I'd expect from you."

Jopson lets out a soft sigh, a faint pink redness at his cheeks at his Captain's nice words. "Thank you, Captain." He leans over slightly, pointing to one of the notes on the side. "I thought I might start by asking these questions before we begin again."

Crozier nods. "Of course. Let me just find my atlas..."

Cup still in hand, he climbs to his feet and goes looking through the shelves, grunting to himself when he realizes the books are out of order again.

Jopson watches him quietly, smirking to himself at his Captain's frustration. Of course, he knows why he's upset. But Jopson had to give up something in order to study. Constantly rearranging the books back to proper order was what he chose to sacrifice. That didn't mean that he stopped paying attention, though.

"Top shelf, sir. Fourth spot on the left from the middle, if I'm not mistaken."

Of course the book's exactly where Jopson said it was. He shakes his head and returns to the table with it.

"I thought the dream was fixing my berth each morning. Turns out it was you," Crozier tells him with a smile. "I've learned to keep it up on my own though. Thought it'd make you proud."

He smiles. "Sir, you need not worry on that. I am proud of you."

Crozier's pleased, even if they aren't being all that serious. "Now," he says, setting the book between them and opening it. "Let's go over those questions you have."
