Entry 4. Crozier Makes Some Announcements

I.

I am grateful to all of you for the resilience and strength you've shown during the harrowing events of the last few days. I will be insistent on two matters: rest, and proper care of oneself.

II.

After reviewing the hull and lower decks of Terror I have determined her to be sturdy enough to continue to inhabit. Our supplies were not damaged in the attack, and the ship is managing to generate heat.

III.

I am formally requesting information on the state of Terror's cabins. Please notify either myself or Mr. Jopson if your cabin needs extensive repairs, or if it is livable with room to spare for shared bunking.

IV.

The stores of spirits will remain accessible to all passengers, including 20 bottles of fine whiskey.

The armory will also remain accessible, but weapons will be cataloged daily.

V.

There will be a public meeting to discuss best course of action should the creature return to us. I personally implore all passengers to attend. More information will be forthcoming.

 

((Crozier's just doing some bidness so everyone else can relax and drink some hooch for a change. Please free to assume your characters spoke to Crozier about repairing their cabins.))

As for your arms, will you make a list of your stores? You need not share it with me, but I'd like for there to be some record of what weaponry we have on board. And we'll take whatever you like to share for the armory.

I can do that. Having a huge personal armory makes sense at home, but it makes more sense here to share. I'll keep a couple of personal weapons, but I'm happy to share the rest and handle their maintenance.

It's... possible I'll need to make more than one trip, but I'll see you there with the first batch.

[Aaand he's going to pack up a duffel bag full of guns and bring them down. There's a range from handguns to rifles--though nothing fully automatic--and plenty of ammo.]

[More than one trip. Crozier re-reads Shaun's reply and rubs his forehead, then continues with his catalog.]

Occupational hazard. [He shrugs.] People really like to watch other people do stupid stuff, but you only get to keep doing stupid stuff if you live through it.

[Crozier can't relate, but he remembers when the dream changed thanks to Shaun.]

Fair enough. What did you settle on?

Settle on? [He gives him a curious look.] Settle how?

The weaponry.

[He stands from the crate and peers into the bag.]

How did you settle on what you kept versus what you donated?

Oh, yeah. My main criteria was 'reliable and easy to use.' So nothing with weird ammo, or that acted up for me when I used it. [That kind of thing could be entertaining to the viewers back home, but not when you didn't have a backup.] Everything uses cartridge ammunition, and I'll help you sort it by what uses what rounds, do there's no confusion in a crisis.

Those of us with more limited knowledge of weaponry will be grateful.

That was the idea. [He shrugs a little and gives Crozier a sidelong look as he starts unpacking.] Good to see you up and about again.

[Crozier helps him unload the bag, trying to be careful with it all.] Good to be up and about again.

Feeling all right? [Shaun is mostly over the idea that the newly dead and returned people of the Terror are walking amplification risks, but he can't help asking anyway. Maybe eventually this will get to be normal to him, but that's still a ways off.]

[He's touched that so many people have been asking after him. He responds with a nod.]

I am. Coming back from something like that is...good.

Good as in "glad to be back" or good as in "that was a nice restful nap?"

[He waves off his own question.]

Sorry, I'm apparently in a nosy mood today.

You are, but I don't begrudge you the curiosity. The answer is both, I suppose.

[He nods. He guesses that makes a kind of sense.]

Well... I'm glad you got the rest, then, even if it was in a really weird, horrifying way. More glad that it wasn't permanent, though.
